I will edit any type of document – short stories, fiction and nonfiction books, essays, emails, business communications, blog posts, journal or magazine articles, advertisements, technical publications, and more!

 

 

Editing Categories and Pricing

Editing Categories: writing feedback, light, medium, heavy, and business. See below for descriptions and pricing.

First 1,000 words free for new customers!

Pricing is set per word, so font style, size, and page setup need not be a concern.

If you are writing a longer story or piece, consider breaking your submission up into multiple documents to make this experience budget-friendly. If you choose the medium or heavy edit, you may save one or two of your revisions for the completed document.

Once a request is submitted, I will contact you within 24 hours with a firm price quote based on a review of the document, your type of edit, requested due date, and any special requests. Payments are accepted via PayPal and money order. In order to initiate the editing process, a 50% deposit is required, with the balance due upon completion. You are eligible for a 20% discount if the entire invoice is paid up front.

Writing Feedback

Writing feedback is not a true “edit,” but is geared toward the author who wants reader comments and suggestions on the document. These documents receive:

  • Suggestions to improve setting, characters, and plot
  • Fact-checking
  • Feedback on plot holes, continuity issues, clarity, and believability
  • Analysis of target audience

Price: $10 per 10,000 words

Light

The light edit is a general proofreading. This document has probably already been edited and just needs a final read-through before being sent to publishing. An edit of the proof copy would fall into this category. The document is examined for accuracy in these items:

  • Spelling, grammar, and punctuation
  • Capitalization
  • Numbers
  • Hyphen use

Price: $15 per 10,000 words

Medium

The medium edit is a line-by-line copy edit. The medium edit includes a check of up to two additional revisions of the same document. This is the most popular editing type. The document is checked for:

  • Everything in the Light and Writing Feedback categories
  • Consistency throughout the document
  • Correct formatting of titles, headings, subheadings, lists, tables, and figures
  • Logical organization and structure of document
  • Clear and appropriate word and sentence usage

Price: $30 per 10,000 words

Heavy
The heavy edit is the most in-depth edit. The heavy edit includes a check of up to four additional revisions of the same document. This is the least common editing type, but may be especially helpful for beginning writers or first drafts. This is perfect when you require:

  • Everything in the Medium category
  • Assistance with an extensive rewrite of the document
  • A deeper analysis of redundancies, wordiness, generalizations, sentence style, target audience, and focus

Price: $50 per 10,000 words

Business

In order appear and sound professional, your document must be clear and free of errors. The business edit includes a check of up to one additional revision of the same document. Business documents, such as email correspondence, memos, reports, technical procedures, and blog posts, are examined for:

  • Everything in the Light category
  • Logical organization and structure of the document
  • Clarity and focus of the message
  • Fact-checking

Price: $5 per 1,000 words

 

 

Project Tracking

For your convenience, I offer a free optional project tracking service. If you select this option, you will receive a username and password, and only you and I will be able to view your document(s). This service allows you to see live updates to the document, so you can check on each stage of the document editing process as it occurs, view the time logged on your project, and leave feedback during the process. You can also upload additional or revised documents directly to the work space. If you would like access to this, simply click “Yes” in the form submission box when asked if you would like to view live updates and tracking.
